Details:

In 1923, Lorraine-Dietrich took part in the very first edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking the beginning of a remarkable motorsport story. The following year, the marque secured 2nd and 3rd place behind the Bentley Sport n°8 of John Duff and Frank Clement. In 1925, Gérard de Courcelles and André Rossignol achieved Lorraine’s first outright victory, with teammates Stalter and Brisson finishing 3rd.

The success continued in 1926 when Gérard de Courcelles, this time partnered with Marcel Mongin, returned with an improved car and stronger preparation. Despite early retirements from rivals, the Lorraines consistently advanced through the field, setting competitive lap times and ultimately dominating the race. In the final stages, Bentley’s last contender was forced to retire, leaving the way clear for a historic triumph. Lorraine-Dietrich celebrated a landmark achievement by securing a 1-2-3 finish at Le Mans, cementing its place in endurance racing history.
