The Mercedes-Benz 507 D Box Van was the preferred choice for the Technical Relief Agency (THW) during the years 1986 to 1996. As the second fully redeveloped generation of the popular T2 series, it replaced its predecessor to meet the diverse operational needs of this vital aid organisation. Known for its reliability and versatility, the 507 D was widely used for a broad range of rescue and support tasks. Production of the T2 was relocated from Düsseldorf to the Ludwigsfelde plant in 1991/92.
