The German Federal Railway Class 98.3, also known as the "Glaskasten" and formerly designated the Bavarian PtL 2/2, was a distinctive steam locomotive equipped with a dummy shaft and triple headlights. In service during the 1950s, it was often paired with Bavarian-style local railway coaches, including a baggage and mail car as well as two third-class passenger coaches. By around 1957, during Era III, this combination represented a typical sight on branch lines, providing reliable transport for passengers and goods across regional routes.
