Roco PO 309 Diesel Crane Locomotive VI (~AC-Sound) RC7320080 HO Gauge
The Dutch State Railways purchased the two-axle shunting diesel locomotives from the manufacturer Werkspoor between 1934 and 1951, and a delivery series was also made by CW Zwolle. A total of 169 units were built in several series and slightly different designs. Due to their distinctive exhaust noise, they have become known among railway workers and railway enthusiasts as "Sikken" or "Sik" - singular for "goat".
Fifteen of these machines were fitted with cranes in the 1970s. After the original green paintwork, the yellow and grey colour scheme was later used. These hardworking little workhorses were in tireless use all over the Netherlands. In the second half of the 1990s, stricter occupational health and safety regulations led to the decommissioning of the remaining locomotives. Many of them have been preserved or are still in operation on heritage railways and some private railway companies.
