Roco OBB Rh1042.687-2 Electric Locomotive IV (~AC-Sound) RC7520201 HO Gauge
A total of 257 of the 1042 series universal electric locomotives were built from 1963. From 1966, more powerful engines were installed in order to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. These locomotives were given the series designation 1042.5. The installation of a resistance brake gave them characteristic roof structures and, compared to the locomotives delivered previously, inverted single-arm pantographs. They were used on all types of trains, but mostly on fast passenger and freight trains, including cross-border services to Germany.
The 1042.687 was assembled at Simmering-Graz-Pauker in Graz under the factory number 72815, while ELIN was responsible for the electrical components. After delivery in January 1977, it was relocated to Vienna South.
