Details
The Prussian State Railway P8 passenger locomotive was developed to meet the growing demands of passenger and express train services. By 1923, over 3,700 examples of this versatile, three-coupled steam locomotive had been built by German manufacturers. Later designated the 38 10-40 series, the P8 delivered 880 kW of power, weighed approximately 130 tonnes with tender and full supplies, and could reach speeds of 100 km/h forward and 50 km/h in reverse. During the gradual repainting of the DRG’s fleet into the standard black and red scheme, many locomotives were still seen in the earlier olive green, reddish-brown, and black colours until around 1930. This model faithfully captures the engineering excellence, historical detail, and classic appearance of one of Germany’s most iconic passenger locomotives.
