Details
In eastern Germany, the Class 50 steam locomotive remained a vital workhorse long after the war. While only 354 locomotives were left in the Soviet occupation zone, the class continued to see widespread use. Over time, various locomotive-tender combinations emerged, with new tenders from Classes 23.10 and 50.40 increasingly paired with older Class 50 engines after their original tenders were withdrawn. These combinations, however, were less popular with crews due to the lack of a continuous rear wall, particularly in winter conditions. This model captures the enduring design, technical detail, and operational history of this iconic German locomotive.
