A total of 145 locomotives were delivered between 1970 and 1974. The final 30 units, from 103 216 onwards, featured an enlarged driver’s cab, making them 700 mm longer than earlier models. At the end of the series’ official service life, a special locomotive was created in the new traffic red livery with a contrasting frame, inspired by fan requests and reminiscent of the classic red/beige 103.
