DB BR290 276-5 Diesel Locomotive IV 1:87 scale model produced by Roco. This model is ready-to-run straight out of the box and would make a excellent addition to any model railway collection. Features: Analogue DC Model Best suited to Epoch IV Model Railways This model mainly operates in Germany Decorated in DB company markings Best suited to 358mm radius curves Finished in a classic German Federal Railway (DB) livery Clear view through the detailed driver's cab Delicate reproduction of all engravings Metal end sections for perfect traction Fine railings Wheelsets with low flanges Details The DB Class V 90 is one of Germany’s most successful and long-lived diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotives, designed for yard duties, transfers and light freight work on non-electrified lines. Introduced in 1960 for the Deutsche Bundesbahn, the V 90 replaced older steam shunters and provided modern diesel power for workshop, depot and marshalling yard operations. The V 90 features a B'B' wheel arrangement and a robust diesel-hydraulic transmission that delivers strong low-speed tractive effort and smooth control, ideal for assembling trains, moving wagons and working complex yard trackwork. Its squared-off cab and bonnet profile became instantly recognisable on German railways, and the design proved both reliable and economical in daily use. In the 1968 renumbering, the V 90 was reclassified as Class 290 under the Deutsche Bundesbahn system, and later upgrades led to subclasses such as Class 291 and Class 294, reflecting reinforced traction motors and improved hydraulics. Many V 90 locomotives remained in service through the 1980s and 1990s, and after the formation of Deutsche Bahn AG they continued working freight yards, industrial sidings and regional depots.
