Regio Calatori X 72500 2 Car DMU VI 1:87 scale model produced by Rivarossi. This model is ready-to-run straight out of the box and would make a excellent addition to any model railway collection. Features: Analogue DC Model Best suited to Epoch IV Model Railways Decorated in FS company markings Best suited to 356mm radius curves Flywheel Fitted Close Coupler Details The SNCF Class X 72500 is a class of diesel multiple unit (DMU) built by Alstom for the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français (SNCF) between 1997 and 2002. A total of 117 trainsets were produced for use on longer-distance Transport Express Régional (TER) and some Intercités services on unelectrified routes across south and west France, including around Tours, Nantes, Toulouse, Lyon, Dijon, Nevers, Grenoble and Bordeaux. These modern railcars helped replace older rolling stock and offered improved speed and comfort for regional passengers. The X 72500 sets were built in two-car and three-car formations, with up to three sets able to work together when needed. They are powered by MAN diesel engines driving hydromechanical Voith transmissions and can reach up to 160 km/h, making them among the faster regional DMUs of their era. Each vehicle also carries a small auxiliary generator for lighting, air conditioning and other systems. Featuring a centralised cab layout inspired by high-speed designs and advanced onboard computer systems, the X 72500 offered improved control and diagnostics compared with earlier DMUs, although early reliability issues led to factory retrofits and ongoing maintenance challenges throughout their service life. Over time, many units have been retired or sold to private operators in Europe.
