Background
The history of ETV Waker begins in 1976, when the ship was launched under the name "Smit Houston". Its most notable transformation came in 1990, when it was refitted for Greenpeace and equipped with a helipad. Since 1995, the ocean-going tug has been used by the Dutch Coast Guard in Den Helder under the name "Waker" and reaches a speed of 14 knots thanks to its powerful engines.
