The six-axle electric locomotive of the PKP ET22 series was produced between 1969 and 1990, with a total of 1,183 units built, making it one of the most common electric locomotives in Poland and Europe. Delivering an hourly output of 3,120 kW and a top speed of 125 km/h, these versatile locomotives excelled at hauling heavy goods trains over 3,000 tonnes at 70 km/h. They also reached maximum speeds of 125 km/h when pulling fully loaded passenger trains up to 700 tonnes. Weighing 120 tonnes with a CoCo axle arrangement, the ET22 became a familiar sight across the electrified PKP network, admired for its timeless, elegant design and widespread popularity in Poland.
