Features: DCC Sound Model Best suited to Epoch VI Model Railways This model mainly operates in Italy This model is decorated in FS company markings This model is best suited to 358mm radius curves Details The FS Class D.145 is a class of diesel-electric locomotive built for Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS) and associated Italian regional and freight operators, including Ferrovie Emilia Romagna (FER) and Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM). Developed in the late 1970s and entering service from 1982, the D.145 was designed to bring reliable diesel traction to both mainline freight duties and shunting work under Italy’s non-electrified network. Italian manufacturers, including Fiat Savigliano, Elettromeccanica Parizzi and Tecnomasio Italiano-Brown-Boveri, constructed the locomotives with a Bo-Bo wheel arrangement and a sturdy four-stroke diesel engine driving electrical transmission. The D.145 delivers around 825 kW of power and a maximum speed of 100 km/h, providing solid performance for mixed freight and transfer work in yards and regional services. Passenger duties were also seen where flexibility was needed. FS D.145 locomotives were allocated to depots including Turin Smistamento, Genoa Rivarolo and Milan Smistamento and later worked with freight operators including Mercitalia Rail (MIR) and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). Multiple liveries have been seen over the years, from original state railway colours to modern freight operator schemes.
