Features: DCC Sound Model Best suited to Epoch IV Model Railways This model mainly operates in Czech Republic This model is decorated in CSD company markings This model is best suited to 358mm radius curves Details The CSD E 669.1 was a robust six-axle electric locomotive built in 1961–1962 by Škoda for the Czechoslovak State Railways. Developed as an evolution of the E 669.0 prototype, it was designed to handle heavy freight on the 3 kV DC network, particularly in northern and eastern Czechoslovakia. A total of 150 locomotives were produced, numbered E 669.1001–1150, with later units offering slightly higher power for the heaviest trains. Featuring a Co'Co' wheel arrangement, six tatzlager traction motors, and a welded steel body, the E 669.1 combined reliability, high tractive effort and straightforward maintenance. Its top speed of 90 km/h made it ideal for mineral and general freight haulage, as well as banking services on steep gradients. The class remained a common sight on Czechoslovak freight services from the 1960s into the 1990s. After the country’s split, the locomotives passed to Czech Railways as Class 181, continuing in secondary freight and shunting roles.
