Following its success, it became a global racing legend. In 1988, the Turbo Optima Mid Special was released as the ultimate evolution of the Optima Mid and sold out instantly. Now, in 2025, this legendary machine returns as Volume 18 of Kyosho's Vintage Series.

The Turbo Optima Mid Special features an 18mm longer wheelbase than the original Optima Mid, improving high-speed stability and cornering performance. Its main chassis, made from FRP sandwiched between carbon plates, offers an optimal balance of flexibility and rigidity. The belt, belt cover, and body are specifically designed for this model. Modern updates support current R/C electronics and power systems while retaining all the original characteristics.
