SNCF Fret 436300 Electric Locomotive VI (DCC-Sound) 1:87 scale model produced by Jouef. This model is ready-to-run straight out of the box and would make a excellent addition to any model railway collection. Features: DCC Sound Model Best suited to Epoch VI Model Railways Decorated in SNCF company markings Best suited to 356mm radius curves Flywheel Fitted Details The SNCF Class BB 36000, nicknamed “Astride” (short for Asynchronous Tricurrent Drive Engine), is a class of four-axle electric locomotives built by Alstom for the French National Railways (SNCF) between 1996 and 2001. A total of 60 locomotives were produced to meet the need for powerful, modern traction capable of operating under three different electrification systems — 25 kV AC, 1.5 kV DC and 3 kV DC — which made them suitable for freight and mixed traffic across France and into neighbouring countries. With a Bo'Bo' wheel arrangement, the BB 36000 has a continuous power output of about 5,600 kW and a top speed of 200 km/h, using four asynchronous traction motors and advanced electrical systems. They were originally developed from what would have been extra units of the BB 26000 (Sybic) order but redesigned as a triple-voltage locomotive with asynchronous motors to support cross-border traffic. Thirty of the class were later modified into the BB 36200/36300 sub-classes, equipped with additional safety systems to operate into Italy, where they are designated FS Class E436. The unmodified original BB 36000s have mostly been used on freight corridors between France and Belgium.
