After the war, in 1945–46, the SNCF ordered an additional 17 engines, designating them Class 150 Y. A unique feature of these locomotives was their shorter chimney, designed to fit within the French clearance gauge. The Class 150 Y hauled both heavy goods and passenger trains in the eastern regions of France and remained in service until the late 1950s.
