The Fleischmann z21 Start Digital Set 5170003 is a superb introduction to N gauge digital railways. Centre-stage is the DB Class 221 diesel locomotive, beautifully modelled in Era IV Deutsche Bundesbahn colours, complete with directional triple-LED headlights, flywheel and two traction tyres across its four driven axles. It arrives with three detailed self-unloading hopper wagons and all you need to begin: the intuitive z21 Start control unit, handheld Z21 multiMAUS, plug-in power supply and ballast-bed track forming an oval measuring 85×40 cm with a minimum radius of 192 mm

The z21 system is modular and can be upgraded for app and WLAN control via activation codes 10814 or 10818, making it smartphone or tablet-compatible. This makes it perfect for newcomers wanting a compact yet flexible layout. The locomotive’s length over buffers is 349 mm, fitting neatly on modest tables.
