DCC Sound Model Best suited to Epoch VI Model Railways This model mainly operates in Czech Republic This model is decorated in CD company markings This model is best suited to 192mm radius curves 5-Pole Motor Directional Lighting 4 Driven Axles Next18 Decoder Socket Details To ensure seamless electric operation on the busy Dresden–Prague line, the Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD) acquired 35 multi-system locomotives in cooperation with the Deutsche Reichsbahn (GDR). These locomotives were specially engineered to run on both the 3 kV DC network in Czechoslovakia and the 15 kV AC system in East Germany. Following the successful testing of a prototype, fourteen production locomotives entered service in 1991, based at the Decin depot. With the establishment of CD Cargo in 2007, nine locomotives were transferred to the new freight division. As the only CD Cargo locomotives certified for operation in Germany until 2016, they were progressively modernised and repainted in the company’s colours. Today, these versatile locomotives are primarily tasked with freight duties across the Decin/Bad Schandau border and on to Dresden and Leipzig. They are also occasionally deployed for domestic services and operate as far as Poland’s border stations, underlining their enduring importance in cross-border European freight traffic.
