Features: Analogue DC Model Best suited to Epoch III Model Railways This model mainly operates in Germany Decorated in RENFE company markings Best suited to 438mm radius curves Flywheel Fitted Close Coupler Details The RENFE Class 276 was a class of DC electric locomotives operated by Spain’s national railway, RENFE from the mid-20th century. The design was based on the French SNCF CC 7100 and adapted for Spain’s 1,668 mm Iberian gauge and 3 kV DC electrification. More than 136 locomotives were built between 1956 and 1965 by Alsthom and Spanish manufacturers including CAF, MACOSA, MTM, and S.E.C. Naval. They were nicknamed the ā€œFrancesasā€ (the French ones) due to their origins. With a Co'Co' wheel arrangement, six traction motors and a total output of about 2,200 kW, the Class 276s could reach 110 km/h and were used on both passenger and freight services across electrified lines. Some were later fitted for multiple-unit operation, improving flexibility. Over their long careers, Class 276 locomotives hauled expresses, fast passenger trains, and heavy freight, becoming a familiar sight on Spanish rails. Withdrawals began as newer electric types arrived, and the class was completely retired from regular service by 2014. A few examples are now preserved or held for heritage restoration, giving model railway enthusiasts a classic Spanish electric prototype to depict mid-20th-century to late-era electrified operations.
