Arnold HIN2681 SNCF BB 36001 Electric Locomotive V N Gauge

SNCF BB 36001 Electric Locomotive V 1:160 scale model produced by Arnold. This model is ready-to-run straight out of the box and would make a excellent addition to any model railway collection. Features: Analogue DC Model Best suited to Epoch V Model Railways Decorated in SNCF company markings Best suited to 192mm radius curves Flywheel Fitted Close Coupler Details The SNCF Class BB 36000, nicknamed “Astride” (short for Asynchronous Tricurrent Drive Engine), is a class of four-axle electric locomotives built by Alstom for the French National Railways (SNCF) between 1996 and 2001. A total of 60 locomotives were constructed to operate under three different electrification systems: 1.5 kV DC, 3 kV DC, and 25 kV AC, making them ideal for cross-border freight and mixed traffic across much of western Europe. The BB 36000 was developed from an altered order for the earlier BB 26000 “Sybic” class, with the later units adopting three-phase asynchronous traction motors and modern power electronics to handle multiple voltages and improve reliability. Of the 60 built, some were converted to the BB 36300 subclass with extra signalling gear for Italy and Switzerland, and in Italy are classed by FS as E436. Early BB 36000s have worked mainly on freight corridors between France and Belgium, and several have been repurposed by leasing companies and seen service across Europe.
